The group Young the Giant will be looking to turn North America’s amphitheater circuit into its own private “Victory Garden” this summer, with a nearly three-month tour behind the forthcoming album of that name slated to kick off in May and hit 40 cities.
“Victory Garden,” their sixth album, comes out May 1, and then the band will give fans just enough time to become accustomed to the new material before hitting the road in earnest. The tour begins May 24 in Las Vegas at the Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort, one of the few indoor venues on the itinerary.
Another indoor setting for the tour is L.A.’s Kia Forum on July 17. But most of the dates on the trek will take place under the stars, including shows at such open-air venues as Cleveland’s Jacobs Pavilion (May 27), Atlanta’s Synovus Bank Amphitheater (June 6), New York’s Pier 17 (June 18-19), Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater (June 27), the Santa Barbara Bowl (July 18), the Bay area’s Greek Theatre (July 19), and Chicago’s Huntington Bank Pavilion (Aug. 7), among the dozens of stops along the way. The tour wraps up Aug. 9 in Indianapolis at the Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park. (Scroll down for the full list of cities and dates.)
The Cold War Kids will be in the direct support slot on the entire tour, apart from the opening gig. Additionally, Almost Monday will be the opening act for the first half of the tour, with KennyHoopla taking over that slot for the second half. Cold War Kids will be using their slot on the tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album, “Robbers & Cowards.”
The general on-sale for all dates will be Friday at 10 a.m. local time here. Prior to that, there will be two presale opportunities on Wednesday, one through Chorus at 10 a.m. local and one through Seated at noon local. Additional presales will be set throughout the week.
“We are honored to bring our new album ‘Victory Garden’ to life on the road. This tour feels like a gathering,” said singer Sameer Gadhia in a statement. “It’s about connection, resilience and fining moments of beauty and optimism in the middle of everything else.” Added member Eric Cannata, “This is our first headline tour in three years, and it feels especially meaningful. We’ve missed this kind of connection, and we’re excited to finally come back together with you all.”
The band recently did underplay shows at the Troubadour in the L.A. area to perform the albums “Young the Giant” and “Mind Over Matter” in their entirety on consecutive nights.
On the upcoming tour, Young the Gint will continue a partnership with environmental organization Reverb to further sustainability efforts, support food insecurity initiatives and raise funding for community-based carbon reduction projects.
Prior to putting out “Victory Garden” this spring, the band just released the single “Different Kind of Love” to alternative radio, where it became the top-added track at the format, and to Triple A, where it was the No. 5 added track. Their last album, “American Bollywood,” came out in 2022.
