Chelsea are set to face Arsenal in the women’s Champions League quarter-finals if the holders win their play-off tie.

The Women’s Super League sides were placed in the same pathway during Thursday’s knockout draw, as were Barcelona and Real Madrid, who will set up a Clasico quarter-final if they beat Paris FC.

Manchester United, meanwhile, were drawn against Atletico Madrid in their playoff match, which — if they won — would pit them against Bayern Munich in the next round.

The top four teams from league phase of the inaugural expanded edition of the Champions League — Three-time champions Barcelona, eight-time champions OL Lyonnes, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea — were granted a place in the quarter-finals. The sides which finished fifth to 12th will compete in the playoff round for the remaining four spots in the quarter-finals.

Arsenal did not qualify for the quarter-finals despite beating Leuven on Wednesday, who they will now face in the playoffs. Renee Slegers finished on 12 points, the same as United, who beat Juventus on Wednesday.

Chelsea, however, finished third after an unbeaten league phase and will enter the quarter-finals against Arsenal or Leuven.

Paris Saint-Germain, St. Polten, Roma, FC Twente, Benfica and Valerenga were eliminated after finishing below 12th following six league-phase games.

The two-legged play-offs are due to take place over February 11-12 and 18-19.
