Nvidia’s stock was rallying Thursday in the wake of upbeat earnings from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, but not to the same degree as many other chip plays.

NVDA were up 2.8% in midday action, trailing the PHLX Semiconductor Index’s SOX 3.5% gain. And shares of chip-equipment makers KLA KLAC and Applied Materials AMAT were up far more than that, with gains of about 9% and 8%, respectively.
