White House condemns ‘The View’ cohost Ana Navarro over Jeffrey Epstein files

  • The White House responded to Ana Navarro’s comments about the Epstein files on The View.
  • In a statement to EW, a spokesperson said that Navarro has “TDS,” an abbreviation for “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
  • “Ana only cares about the Epstein files because she thinks she can weaponize it against President Trump,” the statement alleges.

The White House has once again fired back at The View cohost Ana Navarro, after the Republican cohost claimed Thursday on the air that “white, rich, powerful, entitled men” are protecting the Jeffrey Epstein files after Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released three emails in which the convicted sex offender referenced President Donald Trump.

In an exclusive statement to Entertainment Weekly, a White House spokesperson alleges that, “Like all TDS liberals, Ana only cares about the Epstein files because she thinks she can weaponize it against President Trump,” using an abbreviation typically used to describe “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

The statement continues, claiming that Navarro “didn’t care about Epstein during [Joe] Biden’s presidency” and that the emails released by the House Oversight Committee “prove literally nothing” about the Epstein scandal.

“Liberal outlets are desperately trying to use this Democrat distraction to talk about anything other than Democrats getting utterly defeated by President Trump in the shutdown fight,” spokesperson Abigail Jackson adds, referencing a deal to end the longest government stoppage in history that saw several Democrats cross party lines to side with the GOP in voting to end the shutdown.

“We won’t be distracted, and the entire administration will continue fulfilling the promises the President was elected on, including Making America Affordable Again,” Jackson concludes.

EW has reached out to a representative for Navarro at The View for a response.

Earlier Thursday, Navarro and cohost Sara Haines criticized the handling of the supposed Epstein files, with both women expressing shock over the lack of movement on their release.

“I don’t know why we’re getting sucked up into a political partisan fight about this. This is about right and wrong,” Navarro said during the Hot Topics chat. “We have failed the victims of Jeffrey Epstein,” she added. “We as a country, our legal system, our institutions, our leaders, we’ve failed those victims time and time again.”

She noted that “we cannot fail them now” and urged for the release of more information.

The White House’s latest statement about Navarro isn’t the first the president’s team has made about the political commentator this year.

In July, the White House issued a statement to EW criticizing Navarro, a registered Republican, for calling out problematic behavior surrounding the so-called “Alligator Alcatraz” migrant detention center in Florida.

On an earlier episode of The View, Navarro echoed intense criticism for nationwide ICE raids, labeling those who traveled to the detention center as a tourist destination as “racist” and “horrible human” beings.

“Every time you think Ana Navaro [sic] can’t get any dumber, she proves you wrong,” the prior White House statement read, later adding, “No one who has any interest in facts or logic should pay attention to whatever Ana is spewing on TV because it’s probably wrong or stupid or, most likely, both.”

Another White House statement to EW on a separate issue indicated that the president wants View star Joy Behar to move out of the country.
