Top events to watch
Alpine skiing: Mikaela Shiffrin, Breezy Johnson in team combined
Time: Downhill at 4:30 a.m. ET, 10:30 a.m. in Italy; slalom at 8 a.m. ET, 2 p.m. in Italy

What to watch for: The U.S. dream team of Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin was not to be after Vonn broke her leg during the downhill event. Instead, Shiffrin will pair with Breezy Johnson, who took gold in the downhill. The team combined event features two skiers pairing up, one doing a downhill leg and the other a slalom. Johnson and Shiffrin will compete together in their respective specialties, with both in peak form.
Freestyle skiing: Men’s slopestyle final
Times: 6:30 a.m. ET, 12:30 p.m. in Italy

What to watch for: Reigning gold medalist Birk Ruud of Norway will contend with New Zealand’s Luca Harrington and a pair of Americans in Mac Forehand and 2022 freestyle Olympic gold medalist Alex Hall.
Curling: Mixed doubles medal games
Times: Bronze medal game at 8:05 a.m. ET, 2:05 p.m. in Italy; gold medal game at 12:05 p.m. ET, 6:05 p.m. in Italy

What to watch for: Great Britain and the host nation will face off in the bronze medal doubles game before Sweden and the U.S. play for gold.
Figure skating: Ilia Malinin begins bid for individual gold
Time: 12:30 p.m. ET, 6:3o p.m. in Italy

What to watch for: The men’s singles competition starts with the short program. American Ilia Malinin is the heavy favorite for gold, but Japan’s Yuma Kagiyama, France’s Adam Siao Him Fa and Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Shaidorov are among the top names poised to challenge him.
Ice hockey: U.S. takes on Canada in preliminary round
Time: 2:10 p.m. ET, 8:10 p.m. in Italy

What to watch for: The Olympic women’s hockey tournament places all of its best teams in the same group to create more compelling matchups, which is why we get a showdown of the top favorites so early. The stakes are just playoff seeding — all five Group A teams will make the knockout stage. Also Tuesday: Japan vs. Sweden (6:10 a.m. ET), Italy vs. Germany (10:40 a.m.) and Finland vs. Switzerland (3:10 p.m.). Canadian captain Marie-Philip Poulin notably left Monday’s game against Czech Republic after she was drilled into the boards by Czech forward Kristýna Kaltounková.

Cross-country skiing: Women’s and men’s sprint classic
Times: Qualification at 3:15 a.m. ET, 9:15 a.m. in Italy; finals at 5:45 a.m. ET, 11:45 a.m. in Italy

What to watch for: Jessie Diggins of the U.S. and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo of Norway will be back in action for the team sprint events. Klæbo partnered with Erik Valnes to win gold in Beijing in 2022. Germany’s Katharina Hennig and Victoria Carl won the women’s event.
Short track speedskating: Women’s 500m, men’s 1,000m; mixed team relay
Times: 4:30 a.m. ET, 10:30 a.m. in Italy

What to watch for: The short track program begins with qualification rounds in two individual events. Canada’s Courtney Sarault and Americans Corinne Stoddard and Kristen Santos-Griswold are among the top contenders in the women’s 500. The men’s 1,000 will be our first look at Canadian star William Dandjinou, the World Cup leader. The mixed team relay final follows; China is the defending Olympic champion.

Times: Men at 5:15 a.m. ET, 11:15 a.m. in Italy; women at 8:15 a.m. ET, 2:15 p.m. in Italy

What to watch for: Sweden’s Walter Wallberg and Australia’s Jakara Anthony are the defending Olympic gold medalists and top contenders once again. American Jaelin Kauf won silver in 2022.
Biathlon: Men’s 20km individual
Times: 7:30 a.m. ET, 1:30 p.m. in Italy
TV: Peacock
What to watch for: France’s Quentin Fillon Maillet won the event in Beijing and is a contender once again. He’ll be pushed by Norwegian great Johannes Thingnes Bø, the 2022 bronze medalist and 2018 gold medalist, among others.
Luge: Women’s singles, runs 3 & 4
Times: 11 a.m. ET, 5 p.m. in Italy
TV: Peacock
What to watch for: Germany’s Julia Taubitz and Merle Malou Fraebel sit first and second, respectively, with Latvia’s Elina Bota in third place heading into Tuesday’s final runs.
Ski jumping: Mixed team event
Times: 12:45 p.m. ET, 6:45 p.m. in Italy
TV: Peacock
What to watch for: Slovenia is the defending Olympic champion and will be a gold medal favorite again, headlined by the Prevc siblings, Domen and Nika, both top individual competitors in the sport.
