Vilaayath
Budha
Box
Office
Collection:
Prithviraj
Sukumaran’s
latest
Malayalam
release,
Vilaayath
Budha,
continued
its
theatrical
run
on
Saturday
with
a
noticeable
dip
in
collections
after
a
steady
opening
day.
The
film,
which
arrived
in
cinemas
on
November
21,
marks
the
directorial
debut
of
Jayan
Nambiar
and
is
adapted
from
G.
R.
Indugopan’s
novel
of
the
same
title.
The
project
has
been
years
in
the
making.
It
was
initially
envisioned
by
writer-filmmaker
Sachy,
who
began
developing
the
screenplay
in
2020.
Following
his
unexpected
passing
later
that
year,
Jayan
Nambiar,
who
had
closely
worked
with
Sachy,
took
charge
of
the
adaptation
and
eventually
steered
it
to
completion.
The
film
has
been
produced
by
Sandip
Senan
and
A.
V.
Anoop.
Set
in
Marayoor,
Vilayath
Buddha
unfolds
around
a
longstanding
dispute
centered
on
a
single
sandalwood
tree.
Prithviraj
Sukumaran
appears
as
Double
Mohanan,
a
smuggler
who
finds
himself
at
odds
with
his
mentor,
Bhaskaran
Master,
played
by
Shammi
Thilakan.
The
conflict
between
the
two
men
forms
the
backbone
of
the
narrative.
Day
2
Box
Office
Performance
According
to
early
estimates
reported
by
box
office
tracking
site
Sacnilk,
the
film
collected
around
₹1
crore
on
its
first
Saturday.
This
marks
a
drop
of
approximately
41%
from
its
opening
day
figure
of
₹1.7
crore.
The
two-day
total
now
stands
at
₹2.7
crore.
While
the
fall
is
notable,
the
coming
days,
especially
the
first
Sunday,
will
determine
how
the
film
holds
during
its
opening
weekend.
With
competition
from
other
November
releases,
Vilayath
Buddha
will
require
steady
word-of-mouth
to
maintain
momentum.
