Transwoman Athlete and Cricketer Anaya Bangar Announces Career Break for Gender-Affirming Surgery


Anaya Bangar, the trans cricketer and LGBTQ+ advocate, has announced a major milestone in her life. The daughter of former India cricketer Sanjay Bangar, Anaya revealed that her gender-affirming surgery is scheduled for March 14, 2026. She also shared that she will be taking a break from cricket and training to focus on recovery and being fully comfortable in her body.

Taking to her Instagram account, Anaya Bangar shared the news with her fans and well-wishers who are already showing support, praising her courage and honesty. Revealing the same, she captioned the post as, “On to a new chapter✨ 14.3.2026 ⚜️.”

In the note, Anaya wrote, “As my surgery is coming up, I’ll be taking a break from playing and training. I want to give myself the time and space to recover properly and focus on being fully comfortable in my body.” And she also mentioned that recovery isn’t quick – it could take six months to a year, and she wants to do it the right way, patiently.

“Recovery can take anywhere from six months to a year for the body to fully settle and heal, so I’m choosing to do this the right way, patiently and intentionally. I’m truly grateful for all the love and support you’ll have shown me through every phase of this journey. It means more than you know. Love, Anaya,” she further wrote.

Anaya has been open about her journey for years. She often talks a lot about being yourself, acceptance, and identity, no matter what other people think.
