Toxic Pre-Release Business Buzz: Trade Talk Grows Around OTT And TV Rights Of Yash’s Film

Toxic Pre-Release Buzz: The upcoming period gangster drama Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas and headlined by Yash, continues to generate industry attention ahead of its scheduled theatrical release on March 19, 2026. Discussions around the film’s pre-release business have begun circulating within trade circles.

According to a report published by Kannada Filmibeat, digital streaming platforms and television networks are said to be in talks to acquire the film’s OTT and satellite rights. While there has been no official confirmation from the makers, the report indicates that multiple platforms are exploring potential deals.

Digital And TV Rights Discussions Add To Toxic Trade Buzz

Toxic is jointly produced by Venkat K. Narayana under KVN Productions and Yash under Monster Mind Creations. The film has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English. It features an ensemble cast that includes Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth in key roles.

As per the Kannada Filmibeat report, a pre-release business target of ₹1000 crore has been discussed within industry circles. It further states that OTT platforms including Amazon Prime Video and Netflix are among those said to be in contention for the digital rights. The report suggests that Amazon Prime Video has reportedly placed an offer of around ₹180 crore, although this has not been officially verified.

On the satellite front, television networks are also said to be in talks to acquire the film’s broadcast rights. The Kannada Filmibeat report mentions that Zee TV is said to have offered approximately ₹72 crore for satellite rights. Trade chatter suggests that negotiations may still be ongoing over valuation expectations.

The report further states that the makers are said to be targeting over ₹300 crore from OTT and satellite rights combined. Based on the reported ₹180 crore and ₹72 crore offers, trade discussions suggest negotiations are ongoing for an additional ₹50 crore to meet internal expectations. However, these figures remain unverified and no official confirmation has been issued by the production team.

Speculation around pre-release business is common for big-budget productions. With Toxic marking Yash’s return to theatres after four years following KGF: Chapter 1 and KGF: Chapter 2, trade conversations have intensified.

Technically, the film brings together cinematographer Rajeev Ravi and music composer Ravi Basrur. The screenplay is credited to Yash and Geetu Mohandas, with editing by Ujwal Kulkarni. The project also features action direction by J. J. Perry, Anbariv, Kecha Khamphakdee and Amrit Singh, while VFX work is handled by DNEG.

At this stage, the figures and negotiations remain based on trade reports. Official announcements regarding OTT and satellite rights are yet to be made by the production team.
