Tiger Woods’ son, Charlie, announced Tuesday that he has committed to play golf at Florida State.

Woods, a high school junior, is the No. 9 player in his class and No. 21 in the American Junior Golf Association’s rankings. In November, he shot a 68 in the second round of Florida’s Class 1A state championship to help The Benjamin School win by five strokes. He won the Team TaylorMade Invitational in May and finished tied for 19th at last month’s Junior Orange Bowl International Championship. Woods also won a team state title as a freshman for the Palm Beach, Fla., school.

“Excited to announce my commitment to play golf at Florida State University — go Noles!” Woods wrote in an Instagram post.

Woods’ play has significantly improved year to year, helping him rise rapidly in junior golf’s standings. At the time of his win at the Team TaylorMade Invitational last May, Woods was ranked No. 606 on the American Junior Golf rankings.

His father is regarded as one of the greatest golfers ever with 15 major championships. He won 11 tournaments during his college career at Stanford.

Florida State is a regular participant in the NCAA’s golf championship and finished runner-up in 2024. Notable former Seminoles include five-time major winner Brooks Koepka and 1993 PGA Championship winner Paul Azinger.

Woods isn’t the first member of golf royalty to head to Florida State. Jack Nicklaus’ grandson Nick O’Leary was a star tight end who helped the Seminoles win the national title in football during the 2013 season.
