According to a box office update shared by tracking handle Cinetrak on X on February 24, the film grossed approximately ₹45 lakh in its first four days in the state. The day-wise figures indicate a gradual decline over the extended opening weekend. The film reportedly collected around ₹18 lakh on Friday, followed by ₹15 lakh on Saturday. Sunday saw collections dip to ₹9 lakh, while Monday added approximately ₹3 lakh.

With weekday trends continuing downward, trade observers expect the re-release to conclude its run close to the ₹50 lakh gross mark in Tamil Nadu. Compared to its original theatrical performance in 2023, when it emerged as a major commercial success during the festive season, the current re-release appears to be drawing a comparatively smaller turnout.

Film Background, Cast Details, and Re-Release Box Office Trend

Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor under Bayview Projects LLP in association with Zee Studios, Thunivu originally hit theatres on January 11, 2023. The film featured Ajith Kumar in the role of “Dark Devil,” alongside Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani, John Kokken, Ajay and Veera.

The narrative centres on a high-stakes bank heist in Chennai that spirals into a larger confrontation involving hidden financial irregularities and institutional corruption. As multiple groups attempt to gain control of the situation inside the bank, law enforcement agencies are drawn into a tense standoff. The storyline weaves together elements of financial misconduct, corporate influence and media scrutiny.

The film’s technical crew included music composer Ghibran and cinematographer Nirav Shah, with editing handled by Vijay Velukutty.

The film’s current box office trajectory indicates a steady drop after the opening day. The coming weekdays are likely to determine whether the film can sustain limited screenings or conclude its run shortly in Tamil Nadu theatres.
