Thomas Partey has been charged with an additional two counts of rape against a further woman.

The 32-year-old was previously charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault against three women in July. He went on to plead not guilty at a hearing in London’s Southwark Crown Court in September. A trial date has been set at the same venue for November 2.

The Crown Prosecution Service — an independent organisation that prosecutes criminal cases in England and Wales — has now authorised two additional counts of rape against the former Arsenal midfielder involving one additional woman.

The new charges relate to a separate report of non-recent offences in 2020 and follow a new investigation by the Metropolitan Police. These allegations were first reported in August 2025.

He will now appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on March 13 for a first hearing.

Jenny Wiltshire, Partey’s defence lawyer, said in a statement: “Thomas Partey continues to deny all charges against him. He has cooperated with the police throughout. Given there are ongoing legal proceedings, there will be no further comment.”

The first police investigation began in February 2022 and Partey continued playing for Arsenal until the expiry of his contract at the end of June but, under UK law, he was not publicly named until charges were brought on July 5, the week after his contract ended at the Premier League club.

Partey appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5 and was granted conditional bail. Two days later, he signed for La Liga side Villarreal as a free agent on a one-year contract, with an option for a further 12 months.

Partey made 167 appearances for Arsenal after joining from Atletico Madrid in a €50million (now £43.5m; $59.4m) transfer in October 2020. A Ghana international, he has 54 caps for his country, including featuring at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
