This is when the government shutdown will break the record to become the longest ever

History is about to be made in Washington. No one is celebrating.

On Tuesday night, without a deal in place, the ongoing government shutdown would become the country’s longest. This shutdown would eclipse the

shutdown that stretched from December 2018 to January 2019. That closure ended around 9:30 p.m. Eastern on its 35th day. So after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Washington and the rest of the country will be in new territory.
