Ronald Koeman says “things won’t go wrong” for the Netherlands as they look to book their place at the 2026 World Cup against Lithuania.
The Netherlands missed the chance to secure their berth at next year’s tournament on Friday after being held to a 1-1 draw with Poland.
The Oranje hold only a three-point lead over Poland at the top of Group G but boast a significantly better goal difference than Jan Urban’s side (+19 to +6), meaning even a defeat would likely see them qualify.
Koeman’s side are unbeaten in World Cup qualifying so far, though, and beat Lithuania 3-2 in the reverse fixture, with the head coach now keen to finish their campaign on a high.
“Things won’t go wrong anymore, so you can also look at player fatigue,” Koeman said.
“We want to make it a good match, with good football and goals.”
Let’s finish this on Monday!
