‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ costars kiss on camera at Knicks game

As if the love triangle wasn’t complicated enough!

Two stars of The Summer I Turned Pretty have decided to melt the minds of fans everywhere by sharing an unexpected kiss. On Friday, actors Sean Kaufman and Christopher Briney attended the New York Knicks home game against the Milwaukee Bucks at Madison Square Garden. At one point, the real-life besties were enjoying the game courtside when the spotlight suddenly turned to them.

Jumbotron footage sees the duo first appear in a brief clip from the show, before the camera cuts to live footage of the actors smiling in the stands. The duo initially waved and smiled before Kaufman stood to seize the opportunity: grabbing Briney’s face with his hands, he playfully planted a smooch right on the actors lips. Afterwards, Briney burst out laughing.

The clip immediately started making the rounds on social media. Even the official Knicks Instagram account chimed in.

“Belly you have some competition,” the Knicks account captioned the video. adding, “Everyone is Team Conrad.”

Seeing as the Belly got to choose her favorite Fisher brother, it only makes sense that Conrad gets his pick of the Conklin siblings!

Just kidding. The Summer I Turned Pretty has already settled down when it comes to the issue of who ends up with who. After a messy third season — jam-packed with drama, juicy peaches, an almost-wedding, and a trot across the globe — the love triangle between Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung) and Fisher brothers, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Brinley) has finally been resolved. Meanwhile, Steven (Kaufman) had a major breakthrough in his own love life, rekindling his romance with on-and-off girlfriend, Taylor (Rain Spencer).

As for Briney and Kaufman, the real-life besties still have some healing to do when it comes to their fictional counterparts. Much of the final season saw Steven frustrated with his longtime friend for confessing his love for Belly at the worst possible moment; in fact, many fans took to social media to voice their irritation over the rift between the duo — but the stars of the show couldn’t help but take Steven’s side.

“This is the first I’m hearing of it,” Briney told Entertainment Weekly, when asked about the issue after the show’s finale. “I mean, Steven is her brother. I feel like it’s his job, or maybe he feels like a responsibility to be protective, you know?”

Meanwhile, Kaufman joked that all you have to do is meet Briney in real life, “and then you’ll understand why I was yelling at him.” But looking at the issue seriously, he pointed out that for Steven, Belly comes first.

“Steven just has a lot of love for his sister and he looks out for her more than anybody,” Kaufman defended.

Any remaining tension between Conrad and Steven will no doubt be addressed when The Summer I Turned Pretty returns with its finale movie
