The 50: Munawar Faruqui Calls The Show A ‘Torture’; Calls Out Prince Narula & Karan Patel For Evicting Vanshaj

Stand-up comic Munawar Faruqui has taken a sharp dig at reality show The 50, calling the format “torture” in a recent social media video. Munawar also questioned the early eviction of contestant Vanshaj Singh, while naming Prince Narula and Karan Patel for voting Vanshaj out in the first episode itself.

The 50 is currently on air on Colors TV and has already drawn attention for intense clashes and surprise exits. The show features several celebrities competing in a high-pressure format, and viewers have been closely tracking the eliminations since the launch episode.

In the viral clip, Munawar is heard mocking the basic idea of the game. Munawar said, “Pehli baar aisa Indian history me ho raha hai ki celebrities jo hai wo perform karenge, aur fans ko paisa milega torture hone ka.” The line quickly spread online, with many fans sharing the video across platforms.

Munawar then turned the spotlight on Prince Narula and Karan Patel over Vanshaj Singh’s exit. Munawar pointed out that Vanshaj was removed in the very first episode and cracked a joke about possible future endorsements. Munawar remarked they could land condom commercials because “In dono ne Vansh ko aage badhne nahi diya.”

The comedian did not stop with Vanshaj’s eviction and also mentioned fellow contestant Manisha Rani. Commenting on Manisha’s screen presence, Munawar said, “Sab log isko kone me thasa ke rakhte hain.” Munawar compared Manisha to the JioHotstar logo, joking that she stays in a corner on screen just like the logo.

Reports from the set suggest that the competition has already seen heavy churn. A total of 26 participants have been knocked out of the game so far, out of which 7 have been officially sent home. Vanshaj Singh holds the unwanted record of being the first contender eliminated from The 50.

Munawar Faruqui The 50 buzz and acting career link

Munawar’s jokes on The 50 arrived at a time when the show is already under scrutiny from fans. Viewers have been debating the fairness of eliminations and the role played by celebrity players such as Prince Narula and Karan Patel, especially after Vanshaj’s exit in the opening outing.

Away from reality television, Munawar has also stepped into scripted work. Munawar recently began an acting journey through the web series First Copy. The experience, Munawar explained, has changed the way camera work feels, even after years of performing stand-up and reality content on screen.

Speaking to The Times of India, Munawar shared that acting tested earlier comfort with the camera. Munawar said, “I may have faced the camera before and performed in front of it, but acting is very different. Here, you’re given a script and expected to play a character. When the script came, when the lines came, when the character came — that’s when everything shook. I realised on the teaser shoot itself that this is not easy at all.”

Munawar Faruqui The 50 link to First Copy story

First Copy is set in the 1990s and follows Arif, a young Mumbai resident. After facing humiliation at work, Arif drifts into the world of movie piracy. The story tracks how Arif builds an illegal distribution network while facing growing threats from law enforcement and rivals.

The series unfolds at a time when VCD technology fuels piracy across markets, making copying and circulation of films easier. As Arif expands the piracy business, a focused police officer begins closing in on the group, raising the stakes for everyone in Arif’s circle.

Munawar Faruqui’s comments on The 50, from the “torture” remark to the digs at Prince Narula, Karan Patel and Manisha Rani, have added another layer of conversation around the show. At the same time, Munawar’s work on First Copy highlights a shift towards acting, even as reality television keeps Munawar firmly in public discussion.
