Thalapathy Vijay’s estranged wife Sangeetha Sornalingam recently shocked audiences and media by filing a divorce petition at the Chengalpattu Family Court.
In her divorce petition, Sangeetha has alleged that Vijay’s relationship with a prominent actress is the main reason behind their marriage falling apart. It has been confirmed that the couple has been separated from April 2021, after the wife discovered the Leo actor’s alleged affair with his frequent co-star.

As reported earlier, Sangeetha Sornalingam’s divorce petition has raised several serious allegations against the Jana Nayagan actor, including infidelity and cruelty. According to Thalapathy Vijay’s estranged wife, the actor had promised her that he will end his affair with this co-star, but failed to keep his word.

April 2021: Sangeetha Sornalingam discovered that her husband, actor Thalapathy Vijay is having an affair with his frequent co-star. The star wife made a final public appearance with the popular star in January 2021, at the Master pre-release event. She was never seen with him in any public platforms thereafter. Vijay, however, had promised his wife that he will end this affair.
September 2021: Several attempts were made by the star wife to resolve the issues with her estranged husband. However, Vijay was not longer in a mood to end his affair with this actress. The issues were still not resolved, and the TVK Chief started increasingly neglect his wife in every possible way. The estranged couple started living separately in their marital home.
Meanwhile, the gossipmongers on social media platforms, especially in Reddit, alleged that Thalapathy Vijay’s secret lover is none other than his Leo co-star Trisha Krishnan. However, both the actors are still remaining tight-lipped about these rumours.
April 2024 to February 2025: Sangeetha, who realised that their marriage is beyond any repair, sent legal notices to Thalapathy Vijay multiple times. Vijay, on the other hand, started openly associating with this co-star and frequently travelled abroad with his lover. The actress, allegedely even shared many pictures from those vacations on her social media platforms.
November 9, 2025: According to the star wife’s divorce petition, she wanted to end the marriage, and tried to convince Thalapathy Vijay to file a joint divorce petition. However, the attempts for a mutual separation failed, as the actor refused to co-operate.
Febaruary 24, 2025: Sangeetha Sornalingam finally filed a divorce petition at the Chengalpattu Family Court. In the detailed petition, Vijay’s estranged wife clearly mentioned every difficulties she faced in the marriage, in the last few years.
