Sheffield United have completed the signing of striker Patrick Bamford on a free transfer.
Bamford, 32, has been without a club since departing Leeds United in August.
He has signed a short-term contract with the Championship club through to January.
Bamford had one year remaining on his deal with Leeds when the club confirmed in the summer a “mutual agreement” had been reached for his departure, bringing an end to his seven years at Elland Road.
Daniel Farke had said during pre-season the former England international would not be part of his plans for the 2025-26 campaign following Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League.
Sheffield United are the Championship’s lowest scorers this season, with just 11 goals in 15 league matches. Chris Wilder’s side occupy the division’s final relegation place after winning just three times this term.
A club statement said Bamford would add “extra firepower” to their forward line, where he will join fellow former England striker Danny Ings, who joined the club from West Ham United in the summer. Striker Kieffer Moore departed the club in the summer to join Wrexham.
Sheffield United reached the Championship play-off final last season under Wilder but were beaten at Wembley by Sunderland. Wilder was sacked weeks later and replaced by Ruben Selles, but he was dismissed in September and Wilder subsequently reappointed.
Bamford made 205 appearances for Leeds, scoring 60 goals, and was an important part of the side that won promotion to the Premier League in 2019-20.
His career has been disrupted by injury in recent seasons and he was limited to just one start in all competitions last term.
