Republic Day 2026: Karan Tacker Reads Out the Right to Freedom of Speech and Expression


On Republic Day, a day that celebrates the ideals on which India was founded, Karan Tacker turned his focus to one of the most essential freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. Collaborating with United for Human Rights as part of the ‘Read Me My Rights’ campaign, the actor took to social media to read out the Right to Freedom of Speech and Expression-a cornerstone of Indian democracy that continues to shape how citizens speak, question, create, and engage with the world around them.

Republic Day 2026 Karan Tacker Reads Out The Right

Karan read directly from the Constitution:

“All citizens shall have the right to freedom of speech and expression.”

He went on to underline how this right has been further defined in Indian law since 1949, reading out that freedom of expression includes:

“Freedom of Press, Freedom of Commercial speech, Right to Broadcast, Right to information, Right to criticize, Right to expression beyond national boundaries, Right to silence and the right to Digital and Social Media Expression.”
