Netflix’s basketball comedy, which dropped its first season in February 2025, was a total slam dunk, shooting straight to the top of the streamers charts. It didn’t take long before they made the call to bring it back for another season, and you can bet it’s going to be chaotic.
After the Los Angeles Waves tough championship loss in the season 1 finale, Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) — former party girl-turned-president of her family’s team — is determined to come back stronger next year. But when she shows up at work, she finds her brother Cam (Justin Theroux), the disgraced ex-president, sitting behind her desk.
Her career is now on the line, and her personal life isn’t looking any better. By the end of season 1, Isla finds herself tangled in a love triangle with the Waves coach, Jay Brown (Jay Ellis), and her fiancé Lev (Max Greenfield).
So, what’s coming in Running Point season 2? Here’s everything we know so far, including new cast details and the premiere date.

According to the official synopsis, Running Point season 2 is going to “raise the stakes” and crank up the family drama.
“Isla Gordon is no longer the surprise choice to lead the Los Angeles Waves, she’s the one everyone is watching,” the synopsis reads. Now, she’s “determined to prove she’s not just keeping the seat warm for her brother Cam.”
But what Isla doesn’t realize is that Cam is “quietly maneuvering behind the scenes to reclaim his post, turning every misstep into ammunition.”
“As she tries to balance the pressure of running a franchise with devoting time to her personal life, every decision on and off the court counts,” the synopsis continues. “To survive the family power plays and the scrutiny of the board, she’ll have to rip up last season’s game plan and come up with a whole new playbook if she wants to close out the season on top.”

The team is also adding plenty of new faces this season. Emmy winner Ray Romano joins as Norm Stinson, a grumpy but skilled veteran coach who knows how to push his players — just not always in the smoothest way. Ken Marino stars as Al Fleischman, described by Netflix as the “self-appointed ‘toilet king of Orange County.'” This season, he’s on a mission to score better courtside seats for the Waves.
Tommy Dewey (Casual) is on board as Magnus, the Toronto Trappers’ general manager, while Richa Moorjani (Never Have I Ever) appears as Aruna, the Waves’ brutally honest superstar accountant who can talk her way out of any financial jam.
Jake Picking (Hollywood) plays Tommy White, the new heartthrob point guard for the Waves, and Blake Anderson (Workaholics) steps into the role of Leroy, Cam’s wild but sober friend.
Duby Maduegbunam (Sistas) takes on Benson, the newest player to join the Waves, and Aliyah Turner (Power Book III: Raising Kanan) portrays Zoé Debay, a former child star now aiming for A-list status in Hollywood.
