Real Madrid to step up Rodri interest

According to Teamtalk, Real Madrid are ready to make a serious push to sign Rodri from Manchester City this summer.

The hierarchy of the Spanish giant is becoming extremely worried about the situation in the dressing room, and club president Florentino Perez is determined to make changes he feels are essential for stability to return. Parting ways with Xabi Alonso and appointing Alvaro Arbeloa as a temporary head coach was the first step, but Perez feels dominant figures in the dressing room, such as Real once proudly boasted in Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro, are missing. Rodri is his first choice to step into that role.

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old midfielder, who scored the winning goal to bring Manchester City their only Champions League trophy in 2023 and won the Ballon d’Or the following year, enters the final year of contract at the Etihad at the end of the season. Talks over a new deal are expected to take place soon, but Rodri has spoken about his desire to play for Real Madrid at some point in his career, and this would be an opportunity unlikely to repeat itself.
