Rajpal Yadav Cheque Bounce Case: Rajpal Yadav has been in the headlines for the most unfortunate reason these days. The actor had surrendered in Tihar Jail on February 4 in connection with a check bounce case. While the news came as a shock to everyone, what was even more heartbreaking was Rajpal Yadav’s statement at the time of surrender wherein he told Bollywood Hungama that he had no friends and no money. The Bhagam Bhaag actor also claimed that he is alone in this time of need with nobody to fall back on. The news of Rajpal Yadav’s surrender and situation has been all over the news and now Sonu Sood has come out in his support.
Sonu Sood Steps In To Support Rajpal Yadav
Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Sonu Sood wrote, “Rajpal Yadav is a gifted actor who has given years of unforgettable work to our industry. Sometimes life turns unfair, not because of talent, but because timing can be brutal. He will be part of my film, and I believe this is the moment for all of us..producers, directors, colleagues to stand together. A small signing amount, adjustable against future work, is not charity, it’s dignity. When one of our own is going through a tough phase, the industry must remind him he’s not alone. This is how we show we are more than just an industry”.

On the other hand, Gurmeet Choudhary also followed Sonu Sood’s footsteps and stepped in to support Rajpal Yadav. He tweeted, “It breaks my heart to see a senior, immensely talented artist like Rajpal Yadav ji going through such a painful phase. He has given us countless smiles, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Today, he needs us. As a fellow actor and as a human being, I am stepping forward to help in whatever way I can. I humbly request all producers, directors, and members of our film fraternity-let’s come together, with compassion and humanity, and find a solution. Our industry is a family. And family does not abandon its own”.

Why Did Rajpal Yadav Surrender?
For the uninitiated, Rajpal Yadav cheque bounce dispute arises from funding for his 2010 film Aata Pata Lapata, which has been litigated in Delhi courts for years. To finance the film, Rajpal borrowed 5 crores from Murgli Project Private Limited. Rajpal allegedly missed the repayment deadline, and cheques issued for the loan bounced. The company then filed a case, which moved from a Magistrate’s Court to the Sessions Court and finally the High Court. In 2024, the High Court gave Rajpal protection from arrest, if the dues were cleared. Rajpal told the court payments would come in instalments. After no instalments arrived, the Delhi High Court ordered surrender at Tihar Jail on 2 February, and Rajpal surrendered on 4 February.
