Rail Europe has strengthened its international distribution strategy through a new integration of its European rail offering into the technology platform of Juniper Travel Technology, making it easier for travel agencies and OTAs to sell rail within their existing booking flows.
Through this API integration, Juniper clients can seamlessly add European rail to their product mix, responding to growing demand for more sustainable and multimodal travel solutions. The collaboration significantly expands Rail Europe’s reach within the global travel distribution ecosystem. Via Juniper’s network of more than 550 clients worldwide, a broader range of travel sellers can now access and distribute European rail products through a single technical connection.
As sustainability becomes an increasingly important factor in travel purchasing decisions, rail is gaining relevance as an efficient alternative to air and road transport. Juniper is seeing growing demand from tour operators and OTAs to incorporate rail into their product mix, both as a standalone offering and as a key component of dynamic packaging and end-to-end trip planning.
The technical integration, completed by Juniper, enables agencies to access Rail Europe’s rail content quickly and efficiently. Once a commercial agreement with Rail Europe is in place, onboarding is fast, allowing partners to start selling rail within a matter of days. Agencies also benefit from Rail Europe’s commercial support, commission structure and access to additional services, including group bookings.
From a commercial perspective, the integration allows Juniper Clients to unlock new revenue opportunities by adding rail as a complementary product alongside accommodation, flights and other services. Operationally, Rail Europe acts as a single access point to a wide range of rail operators, enabling Juniper to offer an optimal and efficient connection strategy through one API integration.
As rail becomes an increasingly important product to enhance conversion and enrich travel offers, this integration removes friction and brings rail closer to the heart of the booking journey. For Juniper partners and the wider travel trade, the message is straightforward: selling European rail is now more accessible. Partners simply need to contact Juniper to activate rail sales through Rail Europe and start integrating rail into their offer.
By centralising rail content, after-sales and support processes through Rail Europe, the integration also simplifies operational management for travel sellers. Juniper maintains a single technical connection, while partners gain access to a broad portfolio of rail operators, streamlining issue resolution and improving overall operational efficiency.
Rail is increasingly becoming a core pillar of multimodal travel strategies, offering efficient city-to-city connectivity, supporting sustainability goals and filling key gaps that air and ground transport alone cannot cover. Strengthening rail connectivity within travel technology platforms reflects a broader shift towards more flexible, sustainable and fully integrated travel experiences.
