Peddi Release Buzz: The release plans for Peddi, the upcoming Telugu sports action drama starring Ram Charan, appear to be increasingly fluid as fresh reports point to further delays caused by pending shoot schedules. Though the film was officially announced for a theatrical release on March 27, 2026, industry tracking portals and Telugu media outlets indicate that the date may no longer be feasible.
Peddi, written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, is presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings and produced under the Vriddhi Cinemas banner by Venkata Satish Kilaru. The film features Ram Charan in the titular role, with Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead. Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu and Divyendu Sharma are also part of the principal cast. The film’s music is composed by A. R. Rahman, with cinematography by Ratnavelu and editing by Navin Nooli.
According to a report published by TrackTollywood, the makers had initially stood firm on the March 27 release date despite persistent postponement rumours. The team had even indicated that a minor one-day shift to March 26 was being considered at one point. However, the same report states that distributors and close industry sources were recently informed that the film would not be releasing on March 27 and was instead being moved to May 1, effectively vacating the March slot. It was also reported that another film, Ustaad Bhagat Singh, is expected to take over the March 27 release window.
Subsequent updates, however, suggest that even a May 1 release may be difficult to achieve. TrackTollywood noted that a significant portion of the shoot is still pending and could take close to two more months to complete, making an early May release challenging. As a result, there is now speculation that the makers may consider a late-May or June release, depending on how the remaining schedules progress.
Parallel reporting by Telugu Samayam has added another dimension to the discussion. The publication reported that due to delays in completing crucial second-half portions and a special song, the film could even be pushed beyond the summer window. According to sources cited by Telugu Samayam, internal discussions within Tollywood circles have raised the possibility of postponing Peddi to the Dasara festive season, should the team decide against rushing post-production.
Why the Release Timeline Remains Uncertain
The report further noted that while the first half of the film has largely been locked, key sequences, including an action block and a special song featuring Ram Charan, are yet to be filmed. A Europe schedule is reportedly being planned for these portions. Additionally, the release of the film’s second song, which was initially targeted for the Sankranti period, has also been deferred in light of the uncertainty surrounding the film’s release timeline.
As of January 28, no official statement has been issued by the makers confirming a revised release date. Until further clarity emerges, Peddi’s official release date remains March 27, with industry observers closely watching whether the film will face any postponement.
