Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has not ruled out leaving the club before the end of the season.
Palace were held to a 1-1 draw on Thursday in the first leg of their Conference League play-off by Zrinjski Mostar, nine-time champions of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The south London club have won just one of their last 15 games across all competitions and are 13th in the Premier League, eight points off the relegation zone.
Following the game against Zrinjski, Glasner was jeered by Palace fans in the away end, receiving chants of “we want Glasner out” and “you’re getting sacked in the morning”.
Glasner is contracted to Palace until the end of June but confirmed last month that he would be leaving the club when his deal expires, a decision he said he communicated to Palace chairman Steve Parish in October.
The Austrian was asked about his immediate future at his press conference on Friday before Palace’s weekend clash with bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“Let’s see what the future brings, you never know,” Glasner said when asked if he wants to remain at Palace for the rest of the season.
Pressed on whether he still has the drive to manage the club for the remainder of the campaign, he said: “Yes, I think so, yes.”
He did not directly acknowledge to the chants from supporters on Thursday, instead thanking the fans for their support.
Glasner took responsibility for the club’s poor form but also made sure to point out that Palace have a higher point total than in eight of the last 10 seasons.
“We’re not in the best moment right now,” he said. “I understand and take responsibility for everything, because I’m responsible for the whole team.
“I’m just not good enough to replace the players we sold. I’m just not good enough to integrate the new players in a way.”
Glasner was frustrated with the club’s sale of captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City in January, saying that he felt the team had been “abandoned” and that he had “no understanding” of the decision.
Palace subsequently held talks with the 51-year-old and eventually planned to retain him for the remainder of the season.
In the winter transfer window, Palace completed permanent deals for winger Brennan Johnson and striker Jorgen Strand Larsen and signed Evann Guessand on loan from Aston Villa.
