Nottingham Forest have revealed plans for an expansion of the City Ground that would seat around 52,000.
The Midlands club on Thursday outlined a desire to start the redevelopment next summer on what would involve extensive work on three of its four stands. In the first phase this would increase capacity from 31,000 to 45,000, before a redevelopment of the Brian Clough stand to grow the ground’s capacity by up to 7,000 more.
The first photos were released at an event on Thursday, which saw an address of support from the Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward.
Exciting times at the City Ground as @NFFC outline detailed plans to expand the ground to 45,000 & possibly up to 52,000. A vision for a transformation for not just the ground but the whole area. Backing from @MayorEastMids to this bold plan. #NFFC pic.twitter.com/3bUIE4J2OZ

Official plans are due to be submitted later this month, while Forest are due to host two drop-in sessions on Friday and Saturday for supporters, local residents and various stakeholders to see the plans in more detail.
The Athletic revealed in October that the architects brought in by the club were the ones who oversaw the expansion of Anfield as they aim for a more ambitious project than first proposed six-and-a-half years ago.
Part of the new plans involves a new 58-metre Peter Taylor stand with 1500 more seats than its equivalent at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge. This would be 20 metres taller than the first-proposed 38 metre stand and only three metres below the dome of the city’s tallest building, the Nottingham Council House.
