Thanksgiving is a holiday built around food and football, and based on the odds for Thursday’s games, a feast of points could be in store. The three highest point totals of NFL Week 13 are the three Thanksgiving games.
In the first game, the Detroit Lions host the Green Bay Packers. The Lions are small favorites in this big NFC North game, and the point total currently sits at 48.5 on BetMGM. The next two Thanksgiving Day games have even higher totals, and considering the teams, it’s not a big surprise.
The Dallas Cowboys have the fourth-highest scoring offense (29.1 points per game) and the second-worst scoring defense (28.5 points per game). They host Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs with a listed total of 52. Dallas is regularly among the highest point totals of the week, and that’s not going to change when facing Mahomes.
The same goes for the Cincinnati Bengals, which allow the most points per game in the league (32.7). The Bengals aren’t as prolific on offense, but could get Joe Burrow back. The Ravens are favored by a touchdown, and the point total is currently 51.5.
On Friday, two 8-3 teams meet, but the Philadelphia Eagles are a touchdown-favorite against the Chicago Bears. The Bears are 8-3, but have a negative point differential on the season (minus-3). The Bears have six one-score wins, and three of the last four wins (all of which have been decided in the final minute) have come against teams that had an injury to their starting quarterback. Let’s just say the betting market doesn’t believe in the Bears just yet.
According to TruMedia, the last time an 8-3 team was a touchdown underdog was in 2021 when the 8-3 Tennessee Titans were 7.5-point underdogs at the 8-3 New England Patriots. The Patriots won that game 36-13. Is that a bad sign for the Bears?
The biggest favorite of the week is the Super Bowl-favorite Los Angeles Rams taking on the Carolina Panthers. Before the Panthers play the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night, the odds are not giving Carolina much chance for its following game, with Carolina opening as 10-point underdogs against Los Angeles.
The lowest point total is a classic avert-your-eyes game when the Atlanta Falcons visit the New York Jets. The Falcons are small favorites with the point total at 40.
No teams have byes in Week 13, so it’s a full 16-game slate, although with three games on Thursday and Bears-Eagles on Friday, there are only 11 games on Sunday. Here’s a look at the odds for all 16 Week 13 games.
