Monaco 0-0 Juventus: Cagey draw sees both sides enter Champions League play-offs

Monaco progressed into the play-off round of the Champions League after a 0-0 draw with Juventus at Stade-Louis II.

The Ligue 1 side finished 21st in the league phase, despite being on the brink of elimination at half-time, while Juventus ended the league phase in 13th to join Monaco in the playoffs.

The best chance of the match came after just 56 seconds. Mattia Perin played the ball straight to Maghnes Akliouche in the box, but the Monaco forward could not hit the target with his first-time attempt.

Folarin Balogun did have the ball in the back of the net in the 14th minute, but he fouled Pierre Kalulu in the build-up to see the goal promptly disallowed by the referee.

Vanderson tested Perin twice before the break, but the goalkeeper was equal to both shots, while Lois Openda fired wide at the other end in a rare attack for the visitors.

The second half saw little action at either end, with Perin catching weak attempts from Balogun and Caio Henrique as both sides settled for a point.

Monaco now face either holders Paris Saint-Germain or Newcastle United for a spot in the last 16, while Juve tackle either Club Brugge or Galatasaray.
