Mickey Rourke asks fans to donate to GoFundMe to help ‘prevent eviction’

Mickey Rourke is turning to his fans for help after facing eviction.

The 73-year-old former professional boxer and film star was served an eviction notice last month, People reported, after allegedly falling back on his rent to the tune of $59,100. With the loss of housing now an imminent threat, Rourke’s friend and member of his management team, per The Hollywood Reporter, Liya-Joelle Jones has organized a fundraiser to help the actor “get back on his feet.”

“Mickey is facing a very real and urgent situation: the threat of eviction from his home. This fundraiser is being created with Mickey’s full permission to help cover immediate housing-related expenses and prevent that from happening,” Jones explained on the GoFundMe, which went live on Sunday and has raised over $8,300 at the time of publication on a stated $100,000 goal.

“Mickey Rourke is an icon—but his trajectory, as painful as it is, is also a deeply human one. It is the story of someone who gave everything to his work, took real risks, and paid real costs. Fame does not protect against hardship, and talent does not guarantee stability. What remains is a person who deserves dignity, housing, and the chance to regain his footing,” she continued.

Jones summed up her reasons for launching the fundraiser thusly: “to give Mickey stability and peace of mind during an extremely stressful time — so he can stay in his home and have the space to get back on his feet. Any donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference. And if you’re not able to contribute, sharing this page is a huge help and deeply appreciated. Thank you so much for your kindness, compassion, and support.”

Rourke’s landlord, Eric Goldie, filed a legal complaint against Rourke, whose real name is Philip Andre Rourke Jr., on Dec. 29 after he “failed to comply with the requirements” of the eviction notice.

Per a copy of the complaint obtained by PEOPLE, Rourke began leasing the Los Angeles property in March 2025, with a rent set at $5,200 per month. That rate was eventually increased to $7,000 per month, but Goldie is also requesting compensation for attorney fees and the”forfeiture” of Rourke’s rental agreement.

Rourke began boxing as a preteen in Miami, where his family moved after he was born in Schenectady, N.Y. As he began taking on amateur bouts, he also embarked on a career in show business, which eventually took over, moving him back to New York and leading to roles in films by celebrated directors like Steven Spielberg, Lawrence Kasdan, and Barry Levinson.

He returned to boxing in the early ’90s, competing as a professional, but never stopped acting, receiving an Academy Award nomination for his performance in The Wrestler in 2009.
