Manchester City will refund supporters who made the trip to Norway for Tuesday night’s shock 3-1 defeat at Bodo/Glimt.

Following the 2-0 loss against Manchester United on Saturday, City found themselves 3-0 down in the Arctic Circle before Rayan Cherki pulled a goal back, only for captain Rodri to be sent off for receiving two yellow cards inside a minute.

It was Glimt’s first-ever Champions League victory and City have now taken the decision to reimburse 374 ticketholders who travelled to the game, at a cost of £9,357.00.

A statement on behalf of captains Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Rodri and Erling Haaland reads: “Our supporters mean everything to us.

“We know the sacrifice that our fans make when they travel across the world to support us home and away and we will never take it for granted. They are the best fans in the world.

“We also recognise that it was a lot of travelling for the fans who supported us in the freezing cold throughout a difficult evening for us on the pitch. Covering the cost of these tickets for the fans who travelled to Bodo is the least we can do.”

Official supporters club representative Kevin Parker added: “Bodo is not an easy place to get to, and the sub-zero temperatures made it a challenging evening on a number of levels for our fans.

“The City support has an incredible connection with the players on a matchday, and this gesture is yet another reminder of that relationship.”

City return to action against Wolves in the Premier League this Saturday, and must beat Galatasaray in their final Champions League group phase match next week to have any hope of automatically qualifying for the knock-out round.
