New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson left Wednesday’s game against the Sacramento Kings halfway through the first quarter with a right ankle injury.

The All-NBA and All-Star guard suffered the non-contact injury while attempting to dribble, and it turned awkwardly. Brunson injured his right ankle earlier this season and was diagnosed with a Grade-1 sprain. He missed about a week. Last season, in March, Brunson injured the same right ankle and missed a month of action.

The Knicks are currently the No. 2 seed in the East and are 3.5 games behind the leading Detroit Pistons. New York has seen a drop in form since winning the NBA Cup in Las Vegas. Since then, the Knicks are 7-7 and 2-5 over their last seven games.

Brunson, once again, will be a sure-fire All-Star this season. The Knicks captain is averaging a career-best 28.9 points and 6.3 assists while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from the 3.

The NBA’s reigning Clutch Player of the Year ranks second in first-quarter scoring with 10.2 points.
