Keke Palmer’s ‘The ‘Burbs’ Series Sets Release Date at Peacock


Peacock has set the premiere date and dropped the first teaser for the series adaptation of “The ‘Burbs” starring Keke Palmer.

All eight episodes of the mystery comedy series, which is inspired by the 1989 movie of the same name, will drop on Peacock on Feb. 8. The teaser can be seen below.

Along with Palmer, the cast includes Jack Whitehall, Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar. The official logline states that the series “follows a young couple (Palmer, Whitehall) who have reluctantly relocated to the husband’s childhood home. Their world is upended when a new neighbor moves in across the street, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.”

“The ‘Burbs” was ordered straight-to-series at Peacock in September 2024. Celeste Hughey is the creator, writer, and executive producer on the series, with Rachel Shukert also writing and executive producing. Palmer executive produces in addition to starring. Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, and Aimee Carlson executive produce via Fuzzy Door. Brian Grazer, Kristen Zolner, and Natalie Berkus executive produce for Imagine Entertainment, with Imagine having produced the film. Dana Olsen, who wrote the film, will co-executive produce. Nzingha Stewart serves as director and executive producer. UCP is the studio.

“The ‘Burbs” film starred Tom Hanks, Carrie Fisher, Bruce Dern, Rick Ducommun, and Corey Feldman. In the film, the residents of a suburban neighborhood suspect their new neighbors are ritualistic murderers. Produced by Universal Pictures, the film grossed just over $49 million against a reported budget of $18 million. It is now considered a cult classic
