hit
the
theatres
on
December
5,
2025.
Kalamkaval
marked
the
directorial
debut
of
Jithin
K
Jose,
the
story
writer
of
Dulquer
Salmaan
starrer
Kurup.
Even
though
the
Mammootty
starrer
emerged
as
a
superhit,
it
has
fallen
short
of
Mohanlal
starrer
Thudarum,
at
the
Kerala
box
office.

According
to
the
recent
updates
from
the
trade
experts,
Kalamkaval’s
worldwide
box
office
collection
has
already
crossed
the₹58
crore
mark.
When
it
comes
to
the
Kerala
box
office,
the
Mammootty
starrer
has
made
a
total
gross
collection
of
₹21.50
crore,
by
the
end
of
its
fifth
day
at
the
theatres.
Even
though
it
is
an
excellent
box
office
figure,
the
neo-noir
crime
thriller
has
fallen
short
of
Thudarum,
the
Mohanlal
starrer
directed
by
Tharun
Moorthy,
which
hit
the
theatres
in
April
2025.
For
the
uninitiated,
the
action
drama
which
featured
Lalettan
in
the
role
of
Benz
Shanmugham,
had
collected
over
₹50
crore
from
the
Kerala
box
office
alone,
when
it
completed
the
first
6
days
of
its
release.
Notably,
Thudarum
even
crossed
the
₹100
crore
mark
in
the
state,
by
the
time
it
completed
the
first
two
weeks
of
its
release.
However,
this
seems
to
be
a
tough
box
office
figure
for
Kalamkaval
to
achieve,
even
though
the
movie
is
expected
to
enter
the
₹100
crore
club
soon.
The
Jithin
K
Jose
directorial,
however,
has
high
chances
to
emerge
as
the
highest
grossing
film
in
the
career
of
its
leading
man,
Mammootty.
It
is
indeed
a
massive
achievement,
while
considering
the
unconventional
theme
and
casting
of
the
film,
which
features
the
megastar
as
a
despicable
serial
killer.
The
excellent
box
office
performance
also
suggests
that
Kalamkaval’s
OTT
release
might
get
delayed,
as
it
will
continue
its
theatrical
run
for
sometime.
