Kaantha
vs
Dies
Irae
box
office
collection:
Kaantha,
the
period
drama
film
which
features
Dulquer
Salmaan
in
the
lead
role,
hit
the
theatres
on
14
November
2025.
The
movie,
helmed
by
Selvamani
Selvaraj
has
been
receiving
mixed
to
positive
reviews
from
both
the
audiences
and
critics.
As
Kaantha
completed
the
first
3
days
of
its
release
in
theatres,
the
movie
has
made
an
estimated
net
collection
of
₹
13.85
crore
from
the
domestic
(All-India)
box
office,
according
to
Sacnilk.
However,
while
considering
the
reports
by
the
same
platform,
the
Dulquer
Salmaan
starrer
has
clearly
failed
to
surpass
the
first
weekend
(3
days)
collection
of
Dies
Irae,
the
Pranav
Mohanlal
starrer.
According
to
the
report
by
Sacnilk,
the
horror
thriller
directed
by
Rahul
Sadasivan
had
made
a
net
collection
of
₹
16.75
crore
from
the
All-India
box
office
within
the
first
3
days
of
its
release.
Despite
receiving
relatively
good
reviews,
Kaantha
has
not
managed
to
achieve
the
same
feat
at
the
box
office.
Interestingly,
the
Selvamani
Selvaraj
directorial
had
a
relatively
bigger
and
better
pre-release
hype
around
it
compared
to
Pranav
Mohanlal’s
horror
thriller.
Even
though
Dulquer
Salmaan
has
been
receiving
rave
reviews
for
his
performance
as
Thiruchengode
Kalidasa
Mahadevan,
aka
TKM,
in
the
film,
Kaantha
is
far
from
creating
a
huge
stir
at
the
box
office.
Dies
Irae,
on
the
other
hand,
is
having
a
rampage
at
the
box
office
despite
releasing
with
minimal
hype,
thanks
to
the
excellent
reviews.
Kaantha
cast
and
crew
Dulquer
Salmaan
appears
as
Thiruchengode
Kalidasa
Mahadevan,
aka
TKM,
a
famous
movie
star
who
lived
in
the
Madras
of
1950s,
in
the
period
drama.
Senior
actor
Samuthirakani
plays
TKM’s
mentor-turned-rival
TPK
‘Ayya’,
while
Bhagyashri
Borse
makes
her
Tamil
debut
with
the
film
as
his
love
interest
and
young
actress,
Kumari.
Rana
Daggubati,
on
the
other
hand,
plays
Inspector
Devaraj
aka
‘Pheonix’.
