Recently, an official statement from York Cinemas, the banner which is distributing Jana Nayagan across Canada, started doing rounds on the internet. According to the statement, it has been confirmed that the Thalapathy Vijay starrer will not get a release till April 30, 2026. The banner has urged the audiences to collect their refunds for their tickets in the statement, which is now going viral on social media.
The official statement by York Cinemas has also ensured that all their loyal membership holders will receive priority booking access, once the new Jana Nayagan release date is confirmed. With this official statement from the Canada distributor, it is now safe to assume that Thalapathy Vijay’s final film will release only after the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly is finished.
Even though the makers, KVN Productions, is still remaining silent over the new developments, it is now safe to assume that the H Vinoth directorial might release in May or June, 2026. The Thalapathy Vijay fans and cinephiles, who have been eagerly waiting for the crowd-puller’s final film, are deeply disheartened by this new statement from the distributors.
Things are not looking good for the Jana Nayagan makers either, as the OTT deal of the film is reportedly undergoing a major change. If the reports are to be believed, the OTT price of the film is now reduced to half of the earlier price, by Amazon Prime Video. With the makers suffering a loss of more than ₹200 crore, Thalapathy Vijay’s final film has now landed in a financial mess.
