JANA
NAYAGAN
NEW
RELEASE
DATE
COURT
VERDICT
TIME

The
release
plans
for
Thalapathy
Vijay’s

Jana
Nayagan

continue
to
face
uncertainty
as
the
film
remains
stuck
in
a
prolonged
certification
dispute.
The
movie
failed
to
hit
theatres
on
its
scheduled
January
9
release
after
the
Central
Board
of
Film
Certification
(CBFC)
did
not
clear
it
in
time,
forcing
the
makers
to
seek
legal
intervention.

What
began
as
a
certification
delay
has
now
turned
into
an
extended
legal
process,
with
the
film’s
release
being
pushed
back
multiple
times.
Directed
by
H
Vinoth
and
backed
by
KVN
Productions,

Jana
Nayagan

has
been
on
hold
for
nearly
two
weeks,
dealing
with
repeated
hurdles
at
every
stage.

In
the
latest
development,
the
CBFC’s
writ
appeal
against
KVN
Productions
is
set
to
come
up
for
hearing
before
the
Chief
Justice’s
Bench
of
the
Madras
High
Court
today
at
around
11:30
am,
a
session
that
could
play
a
crucial
role
in
deciding
the
film’s
immediate
future.

WHY
JANA
NAYAGAN
RELEASE
GOT
POSTPONED?

The
release
of
Thalapathy
Vijay’s

Jana
Nayagan

was
postponed
due
to
delays
in
obtaining
the
official
censor
certificate
from
the
Central
Board
of
Film
Certification
(CBFC).
The
makers
submitted
the
film
on
December
18,
and
after
the
first
screening,
the
examining
committee
asked
for
multiple
cuts.

The
producers
complied,
reportedly
making
27
edits
and
resubmitting
the
film
on
December
22.
Although
the
CBFC’s
regional
office
later
indicated
that
the
film
could
receive
a
U/A
16+
certificate,
the
official
clearance
was
never
issued,
leaving
the
release
in
limbo.

The
situation
escalated
when
the
CBFC
referred
the
film
to
the
Revising
Committee
on
January
5,
following
a
complaint
that
certain
scenes
might
hurt
the
sentiments
of
a
minority
community
and
concerns
over
the
depiction
of
defence
force
emblems.
With
only
three
days
to
go
for
the
release,
KVN
Productions
approached
the
Madras
High
Court
on
January
6,
seeking
directions
for
immediate
certification.

After
hearing
both
sides,
the
court
reserved
its
order.
Later,
the
production
house
announced
on
social
media
that
the
film’s
release
would
be
postponed
indefinitely,
leaving
fans
waiting
for
a
new
date.
