The Jacksonville Jaguars and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers have agreed to a contract extension that will keep the recent trade acquisition in Florida through the 2028 season, league sources told The Athletic on Thursday.

The deal is for three years and $60 million, with $40 million guaranteed, league sources confirmed, and ensures the Jaguars will not immediately lose a player they traded for a month ago.

Meyers requested a trade away from the Las Vegas Raiders in August and was eventually sent to Jacksonville ahead of the trade deadline for fourth- and sixth-round picks. He was in the final year of a three-year, $33 million deal he signed with Las Vegas, meaning he would’ve been a free agent this offseason had he not agreed to an extension with the Jaguars.

The 29-year-old has 27 catches on 38 targets for 355 yards and three touchdowns over his first six games in Jacksonville (10-4). The Jaguars won five of those games, including a 48-20 rout of the New York Jets on Sunday that saw Meyers haul in five passes for 71 yards.
