Inter Milan sold Aleksandar Stankovic to Club Brugge for €9.5million last summer, and the 20-year-old has impressed in Belgium, scoring seven goals and producing four assists in 37 matches across all competitions – unusually high numbers for a defensive midfielder.
Stankvic’s overall good performances have attracted attention from Premier League clubs, namely Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are keeping an eye on the situation as well.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Inter would also like to have him back, and the €23million buy-back clause they embedded in the agreement when they sold the player to Club Brugge puts them in an iron-strong position to beat off all competition.
Aleksandar Stankovic is the son of former Inter midfielder Dejan Stankovic, who was a crucial part of the team that won the historic 2010 treble under Jose Mourinho, and has recently been appointed for his second stint as the Red Star Belgrade manager.
Following his father’s footsteps, Aleksandar has made four appearances as a senior Serbia international so far, scoring one goal.
