The Peninsula London welcomed the capital’s foremost voices in art, fashion and culture for its inaugural Lunar New Year celebration, a polished late-night evening of imaginative cuisine and vibrant music. Celebrating Lunar New Year through a distinctly London lens, the evening combined cherished traditions with the capital’s vibrant creative spirit.
The evening’s soundtrack was set by ZEE-2, celebrated for her genre-blending beats that fuse house, R&B and global rhythms, alongside Clara Rosa, whose dynamic mixes and cinematic approach to DJing have earned her a devoted following across London’s creative scene.
Guided by RED FLAGGED, the London-based cultural and creative consultancy championing the East and Southeast Asian creative diaspora, the stylish set marked the Year of the Horse at The Peninsula London’s iconic Little Blue Bar and Canton Blue restaurant.
Guests included designers Chet Lo and Oscar Ouyang, musician Mutya Buena, actors Gemma Chan and Christopher Chung, as well as London’s media and cultural commentators including Andrea Thompson, Coco Fong, Declan Chan, Eni Subair, Justin Tsang, Mahoro Seward, Rosie Lai, Tian Wei Zhang, Zoe Suen and more.
Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed signature Canton Blue classics alongside Lunar New Year specialties. Guests were invited behind the scenes into the kitchen to witness dim sum made to order, before tasting them, all expertly paired with crafted baijiu cocktails. Inaugurated for Lunar New Year (3rd February to 3rd March), guests marvelled the 3-D textile installation of Shanghai-based artist Lin Fanglu, curated in partnership with the V&A and The Peninsula’s global Art in Resonance programme.
Four Winds, renowned Mahjong experts, were also on hand teaching guests on two beautiful limited-edition sets gifted by Ralph Lauren. Guests were generously transported to and from the event by Wheely, the luxury on-demand chauffeur company and concierge service.
Lunar New Year is an integral part of The Peninsula Hotels’ cultural identity, rooted in its rich Asian heritage and reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Celebrated globally across the group’s 12 hotels, the moment brings together cherished traditions and the welcoming spirit that has defined the brand for nearly a century.
