Injured Cam Skattebo fights wrestlers at WWE match

Just weeks after suffering a season-ending injury, New York Giants rookie Cam Skattebo didn’t hesitate to “fight” several World Wrestling Entertainment stars during “Monday Night Raw.”

The running back, along with fellow Giants rookie Abdul Carter, fought WWE’s wrestling group Judgement Day at Madison Square Garden. Famous wrestler John Cena made his final appearance on “Raw.” Plenty of celebrities were in the stands, such as comedian and actor Eric Andre, members of the Philadelphia Eagles and comedian Andrew Schultz.

Skattebo and Carter, who was benched after reportedly sleeping through a team walk-through, were sitting in the front row. Wrestler Dominik Mysterio shoved Schultz into his seat, and Skattebo responded by shoving another wrestler to the floor after a stare-down.

“The only good thing that’s coming out of New York City is standing right in front of you,” Mysterio said. “The only champion New York has seen in … can you count, Cam? How many years? He don’t know. He can’t count.”

The interaction boiled over into a full-out brawl, with Carter and Skattebo absorbing several punches and pushes. The video captured what appeared to be a significant amount of contact for the rookie running back. Skattebo suffered a dislocated ankle during an Oct. 26 loss against the Eagles and was carted off the field. He reportedly suffered an open dislocation of his ankle, a fractured fibula and deltoid ligament rupture.

The injury ended his season, but the rookie recently said he has regained full function of his foot and toes. Skattebo rushed for 410 yards and five touchdowns while posting 207 receiving yards and two touchdowns during a promising rookie season.

It’s the second time Skattebo appeared at a recent sporting event. Saturday night, Skattebo appeared at UFC 322, where he sat cage-side.

Last year, New York wide receiver Malik Nabers attended a Travis Scott concert at MetLife Stadium while working through concussion protocol. Nabers said he told team doctors he planned to attend the concert.

“What I do outside this facility has nothing to do with what the media thinks or whatever they got going on, so that’s my business,” he told the media after the concert.
