Actor
Peter
Claffey,
who
plays
Ser
Duncan
the
Tall
in
HBO’s
upcoming
series
The
Knight
of
the
Seven
Kingdoms,
has
opened
up
about
his
journey
from
audition
to
landing
the
role
in
the
Game
of
Thrones
universe.
The
series,
which
expands
the
world
of
Westeros,
will
now
stream
on
JioHotstar
from
January
19,
in
Hindi,
Tamil,
Telugu,
and
English.
Recalling
his
initial
reaction
to
the
audition
brief,
Claffey
shared
that
while
he
was
familiar
with
the
Game
of
Thrones
universe,
he
hadn’t
read
the
novellas
the
series
is
based
on.
Speaking
about
the
experience,
he
said,
“My
UK-based
agent
sent
over
this
brief
for
a
tape.
I
was
a
big
fan
of
Game
of
Thrones,
the
original
TV
show
and
I
obviously
knew
the
world,
but
I
didn’t
know
of
the
book
of
A
Knight
of
the
Seven
Kingdoms.
I
had
heard
of
Ser
Duncan
the
Tall
sporadically
but
I
got
these
couple
of
scenes,
didn’t
really
know
what
they
were
and
just
tried
to
give
them
the
best
shot
I
could.”
Claffey
went
on
to
describe
the
emotional
rollercoaster
that
followed
once
he
received
a
callback,
admitting
that
the
process
became
increasingly
intense
as
he
progressed
further.
“Then
I
got
a
recall
which
meant,
‘Oh
God,
there’s
something
that
they
actually
liked,’ and
obviously
you
get
further
down
the
line
and
closer
and
closer
to
it…
I
was
losing
sleep
and
terrified
knowing
I
was
so
close.”
Reflecting
on
finally
landing
the
role,
the
actor
added,
“I
suppose
I
must
have
done
something
right
to
get
it
in
the
end.”
With
Claffey
stepping
into
the
role
of
the
much
loved
knight
Ser
Duncan
the
Tall,
The
Knight
of
the
Seven
Kingdoms
promises
a
more
grounded,
character
driven
story
set
decades
before
the
events
of
Game
of
Thrones,
offering
fans
both
old
and
new
a
fresh
way
into
Westeros.
The
Knight
of
the
Seven
Kingdoms
premieres
on
19th
January,
streaming
on
JioHotstar
in
Hindi,
Tamil,
Telugu,
and
English.
