‘How Long Gone’ Launches Video Podcast

How Long Gone,” the proudly bicoastal elite podcast hosted by Chris Black and Jason Stewart, is expanding into video.

In conjunction with Talkhouse and Amplify Pictures, the hosts have launched a new format shot a news-desk studio in Los Angeles. The video series, titled “How Long Gone Today,” will be distributed on YouTube and Spotify, with Apple to come. It’s a separate series from the audio podcast, which will continue to release about three episodes per week.

Black and Stewart teased the format in December 2025 with a “Year in Review” special. They promise guest interviews, musical performances and additional segments to roll out in 2026. It’s unclear how often the video episodes will be released.

“We could only resist the pivot to video for so long. This approach feels like the right one for us and the audience. A natural extension of the audio podcast that allows us to show up on your YouTube algorithm,” Black said in a statement.

Ian Wheeler, founder of Talkhouse, added, “We realized that, with the exception of the pages of The New York Times, New York Magazine, W Magazine, American GQ, British GQ, American Vogue and Vogue Scandinavia, many people have never seen Chris and Jason’s faces or towering bodies. So, we’re out to fix that.”

“How Long Gone” launched in 2020 as a podcast focusing on culture, music, fashion, pop culture and media. The New York-based Black and Los Angeles-based Stewart release about three episodes per week, sometimes riffing with each other and sometimes interviewing a guest. In the past year, the show has welcomed figures like the beleaguered journalist Olivia Nuzzi to DJ-producer Mark Ronson to “Stranger Things” star and musician Joe Keery.
