Horror-Comedy ‘Hold The Fort’ Sells Wide for Blue Finch

U.K. sales and distribution company Blue Finch Films has closed a raft of international sales for horror-comedy “Hold the Fort,” with Sunrise Films picking up North American rights to the William Bagley-directed feature.

Sunrise Films, whose recent slate includes Toronto Film Festival selection “Saipan,” starring Steve Coogan and Éanna Hardwicke, has acquired the film for North America with plans for a summer release.

The genre pic, which made its world premiere at Fantasia Film Festival before touring the festival circuit, has also been acquired by Signature Entertainment for the U.K. and Ireland. Additional deals have been struck with Lighthouse Home Entertainment for Germany, Mediawan Rights for France, Wild Duck Prods. for Spain and Vendetta Filmes for Portugal. Blue Finch Films said further sales are in the pipeline.

The film centers on a couple, Lucas and Jenny, whose excitement over becoming first-time homeowners turns to terror when they discover their new property comes with deadly strings attached. Trapped in a conflict between their homeowners association and supernatural forces, the pair must fight for survival in what the filmmakers describe as a horror-comedy take on contemporary housing anxieties.

Scott Hawkins created the story, with Bagley penning the screenplay. Bagley also produced alongside Matt Dodd and Luke Williams, both of whom previously collaborated with the director on “The Murder Podcast.” Tim Reis (“The Adult Swim Yule Log”) and Julian Smith round out the producing team.

Blue Finch Films’ current international slate includes Rotterdam-selected “Bowels of Hell,” SXSW selection “Imposters,” and horror title “Dolly,” which IFC will release theatrically in March.
