Susan Kelechi Watson is set to guest star in an upcoming episode of “High Potential.”
Watson will appear in the Jan. 27 episodes of the ABC procedural, which is titled “NPC.” The desciption for the episode states, “When a former esports champion is mysteriously murdered, both his gaming rival and a sushi chef are under suspicion. Time spent with Elliot (Matthew Lamb) unexpectedly provides Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) with insights on the case. Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) reconnects with a woman from his past.”
Watson will play the woman from Kardec’s past. The character is further described as “wry, open-hearted, and independent. Always chasing what’s next, not out of recklessness, but out of a real appetite for life. She follows her curiosity wherever it leads, whether that’s a new city, a new flavor, or a new chapter.”
Watson is best known for her time on the hit NBC series “This Is Us,” having appeared in the show as Beth Pearson throughout its six-season run at the broadcast network. Watson’s other TV credits include “The Residence” at Netflix, “Will Trent” at NBC, and “Louie” at FX. In film, Watson is known for her roles in features such as “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.”
She is repped by UTA, Authentic, and Jackoway Austen.
“High Potential” debuted its second season in September. Kaitlin Olson returns as Morgan, “a single mom with an exceptional mind, whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective (Sunjata).”
The cast also includes Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdil, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot, Steve Howey as Nick Wagner and Judy Reyes as Selena.
The series is based on the French drama “Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI).” Drew Goddard developed the American version and executive produces via Goddard Textiles along with Sarah Esberg. Todd Harthan serves as executive producer and showrunner. Olson also executive produces, as does Marc Halsey. 20th Television is the studio.
