Filmfare Awards South Date: The 70th edition of the Filmfare Awards South is scheduled to take place on February 21 in Kerala. The annual awards ceremony will recognise films released in 2024 across the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada film industries. Organisers have confirmed that the event will be held in partnership with Kerala Tourism.

The awards are among the most prominent recognitions for South Indian cinema, honouring performances, direction, music and technical achievements. With nominations now public, several major releases from 2024 are in contention across categories.

Telugu Nominations

In the Telugu segment, films such as 35 Chinna Katha Kaadu, Committee Kurrollu, Hanu-Man, Kalki 2898 AD, Lucky Baskhar and Pushpa 2: The Rule are competing for Best Film. The Best Director category includes Nag Ashwin for Kalki 2898 AD, Prasanth Varma for Hanu-Man, Sukumar for Pushpa 2: The Rule, Venky Atluri for Lucky Baskhar, Nanda Kishore Emani for 35 Chinna Katha Kaadu and Yadhu Vamsi for Committee Kurrollu.

Among actors, nominees for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) include Allu Arjun, Dulquer Salmaan, Jr NTR, Nani, Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Teja Sajja. In the female lead category, Anupama Parameswaran, Ashika Ranganath, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Nivetha Thomas, Priyanka Mohan and Rashmika Mandanna have secured nominations.

Malayalam Nominations

Malayalam films nominated for Best Film include Aadujeevitham, Aattam, Aavesham, Bramayugam, Kishkindha Kaandam, Manjummel Boys, Prabhayay Ninachathellam (All We Imagine As Light), Premalu and Ullozhukku.

The Best Director category includes Anand Ekarshi (Aattam), Blessy (Aadujeevitham), Chidambaram (Manjummel Boys), Christo Tomy (Ullozhukku), Dinjith Ayyathan (Kishkindha Kaandam), Jithin Laal (ARM), Jithu Madhavan (Aavesham), Payal Kapadia (Prabhayay Ninachathellam) and Rahul Sadasivan (Bramayugam).

For Best Actor (Male), nominees are Asif Ali, Basil Joseph, Fahadh Faasil, Mammootty, Prithviraj and Tovino Thomas. In the female category, Divya Prabha, Kani Kusruti, Mamitha Baiju, Nazriya, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Urvashi and Zarin Shihab are in contention.

Tamil Nominations

Tamil Best Film nominees include Amaran, Kottukkaali, Lubber Pandhu, Maharaja, Meiyazhagan and Vaazhai.

The Best Director list comprises C Prem Kumar (Meiyazhagan), Mari Selvaraj (Vaazhai), Nithilan Saminathan (Maharaja), Pa Ranjith (Thangalaan), PS Vinothraj (Kottukkaali) and Rajkumar Periasamy (Amaran).

For Best Actor (Male), the nominees are Arvind Swamy, Attakathi Dinesh, Vikram, Dhanush, Sivakarthikeyan, Soori and Vijay Sethupathi. The Best Actor (Female) category includes Anna Ben, Keerthy Suresh, Sai Pallavi, Sri Gouri Priya, Urvashi and Simran.

Kannada Nominations

In Kannada cinema, the Best Film nominees are Bagheera, Bheema, Blink, Hadinelentu, Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi and Shakhahaari.

The Best Director nominees are Duniya Vijay (Bheema), Prithvi Konanur (Hadinelentu), Rajguru B (Kerebete), Sandeep Sunkad (Shakhahaari), Srinidhi Bengaluru (Blink) and Utsav Gonwar (Photo).

In the acting categories, Best Actor (Male) nominees include Duniya Vijay, Ganesh, Rangayana Raghu, Shivarajkumar, Sriimurali and Sudeep. The Best Actor (Female) list features Akshatha Pandavapura, Ankitha Amar, Bindu Shivaram, Chaithra Achar, Roshini Prakash and Rukmini Vasanth.

The 70th Filmfare Awards South ceremony will bring together nominees from across four industries on February 21, where winners will be announced across categories.
