Television actor Dipika Kakar is preparing for a minor liver procedure to remove a 13 mm cyst. Doctors detected the cyst during a recent follow-up CT scan after abdominal discomfort. Medical teams plan to burn the cyst rather than perform major surgery. The treatment is expected to need a 3–4-day hospital stay, and doctors may later shift Dipika Kakar’s therapy to immunotherapy.
The update came through a new YouTube vlog by Dipika Kakar’s husband, Shoaib Ibrahim, where the couple discussed recent health checks. Shoaib explained that the latest tests followed fresh pain complaints. The vlog aimed to reassure viewers that doctors are not planning a large operation while still acting early on the cyst.
Dipika Kakar surgery and liver cancer treatment
Dipika Kakar, known from Sasural Simar Ka and as the winner of Bigg Boss 12, has been under close cancer care since last year. Doctors previously found a cancerous tumour in Dipika Kakar’s liver, which led to major surgery in June 2025. During that operation, surgeons removed 22 percent of the liver. The current cyst appeared during routine follow-ups held after that surgery, around February 22, 2026.
The couple noticed fresh symptoms before the latest scan, including stomach unease and pain near the left shoulder. These signs prompted another hospital visit, where doctors ordered a CT scan that revealed the new 13 mm cyst. Dipika Kakar explained in the vlog that such signals must never be ignored and spoke about the fear that came with them. “Stomach ke saath wahi shoulder pain ho raha yeh humare liye alarming tha. Toh doctors kahe rahe hai ki yeh us wajah se nahi hai par yeh pata nahi kyo ho raha hai fir CT kiya.”
Dipika Kakar surgery details and hospital stay
Specialists have told the family that the cyst itself does not require another open liver surgery. Instead, medical staff will burn the cyst from inside in a minimally invasive procedure. Dipika Kakar will stay in hospital for around 3–4 days for monitoring after this surgery. Shoaib said the operation is set for Tuesday and asked viewers for prayers. He said, “Saare scanario mila ke pahuche ki hum isko treat krege par aisi koi major-major surgery nahi hogi, but ander vo cyst hai usko burn karege. Lekin 3-4 din ka admission hoga. Tuesday ko surgery hogi, toh ye, pray ki jiyega ki ache se ho jaye.”
Dipika Kakar surgery updates and future care
Shoaib shared that most of Dipika Kakar’s latest reports are within the expected range, though doctors noticed a mild rise in certain blood markers. Because of that, specialists may change Dipika Kakar’s plan from oral chemotherapy to immunotherapy after the cyst treatment. The final call will come once the surgery is over. In the vlog, Dipika Kakar urged other cancer patients to stay alert and get regular check-ups, even for small symptoms.
Dipika Kakar said the health struggle is now part of life and stressed that early detection gave some comfort despite the fear. She has previously spoken about breast cancer surgery as well, saying, “My level of gratitude has completely changed…” The actor and Shoaib recently marked their 8th wedding anniversary on February 22 and have chosen to keep fans informed about Dipika Kakar’s surgery and wider cancer journey through open, regular digital updates.
