BritBox has promoted Alana McGaughey to senior vice president of publicity and communications for the British TV streamer’s North America division.
Most recently vice president of global PR and communications, a role she’s held since she joined BritBox in December 2023, McGaughey will continue to lead publicity, corporate communications, events, talent relations, and awards for BritBox in North America, and will now expand her responsibilities to “play a key role in advancing BritBox’s fandom and audience engagement strategy, supporting the development of a new podcast and other fan-focused projects,” per the company.
During McGaughey’s tenure, BritBox has achieved significant media attention while earning its first-ever Tribeca Film Festival selection for Outrageous in June 2024. McGaughey has also led campaigns for series including “A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story,” “Ludwig,” “Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero,” and “Blue Lights.”
Before joining BritBox, McGaughey worked on series publicity at Netflix, where she led publicity campaigns for limited series “All the Light We Cannot See” and the final seasons “Ozark” and “Manifest.” Prior to that, McGaughey was at Starz where she oversaw publicity for originals including “Outlander” and the “Power” franchise.
Previously, McGaughey held roles at Bravo, 42 West, and Focus Features.
“Alana’s creativity, strategic excellence, and leadership have redefined how BritBox connect with audiences, talent, partners, and media,” BritBox chief marketing officer Diana Pessin said. “Her ability to elevate our brand narrative while driving measurable results has been extraordinary. This promotion reflects her vision and impact and I’m thrilled to see her continue to shape BritBox’s story as we enter our next phase of growth.”
