Simply looking to extend on their play-off charge on Saturday afternoon, Carlisle will welcome Wealdstone to Cumbria this weekend.
Starting with the hosts, losing their League Two status last season, it is no secret that Carlisle have their sights firmly set on booking an immediate fourth-tier return this time around. Last seen signing off 2025 with a gritty 1-0 victory at home against Morecambe, Mark Hughes’ men are sat firmly in the driving seat to punch a play-off ticket this year. Laying down a real marker last month as they stormed their way to an empathic 3-0 romp away at Gateshead, the one-time Manchester City boss should find the mood in his camp at a real high. Pencilled in as a standout contender here, the Cumbrians have won three of their previous four appearances across all competitions. Likewise, registering consecutive National League wins for the first time since the end of November, Carlisle should also be excited by their extended success at Brunton Park. Including an action-packed 5-2 victory against Boston United, Hughes’ side have suffered just a single defeat in front of their own supporters since way back on September 27th.
As for the visitors, while Wealdstone might have embarked on a real purple patch on either side of opening November, Sam Cox’s men have largely come crashing back down to earth in a worrying fashion. Last seen signing off 2025 with another worrying display as they slumped to a 4-1 defeat away at Aldershot, the former Oxford City boss has seen his downbeat squad come tumbling down the National League standings. With their extended struggled underlined by a woeful 4-0 drumming at home against Boreham Wood last month, Wealdstone have failed to win any of their previous eight consecutive meetings against National League opposition and they have also gained a reputation for their extended issues on the road. In fact, the Stones have registered just a sole win on their travels since way back in October. Hit with a 1-0 loss when they welcomed Carlisle to Middlesex for their reverse National League showdown on August 23rd, we are expecting a similar outcome here.
