Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates appears to be trimming back his famed Washington compound—listing a home that sits next to his sprawling Xanadu 2.0 dwelling for $4.8 million, just months after insisting he would “never downsize” the enormous property.
The 70-year-old Microsoft MSFT founder put a four-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom Medina, Wash., dwelling on the market on Feb. 5, 2026, property records show. Gates has owned the home since 1995, when he purchased it for $1 million, just one year after wedding his now ex-wife Melinda French Gates.
