Mayur Patel Booked For Alleged Drunk Driving: Kannada actor and filmmaker Mayur Patel has been booked by traffic police in Bengaluru following a late-night road accident that reportedly involved multiple vehicles. The incident took place on Old Airport Road near the Command Hospital signal, drawing immediate attention due to the scale of the collision and the actor’s alleged involvement.
According to India Today, the incident took place on Wednesday night. Patel was allegedly driving a Toyota Fortuner SUV when he rammed into a car that was stationary at a traffic signal. The initial impact reportedly triggered a chain reaction, damaging several vehicles waiting at the intersection. Police officials said the collision ultimately involved at least four other vehicles.
Traffic personnel from the Halasuru Traffic Police rushed to the spot after receiving alerts about the crash. Two Swift Dzire cars and one government vehicle were among those damaged. Eyewitnesses at the scene reportedly described a brief altercation between Patel and one of the affected vehicle owners following the accident.
As per the India Today report, the actor was subjected to a breathalyser test at the scene, which allegedly returned a positive result for alcohol consumption. Based on complaints filed by the drivers of the damaged vehicles, police seized the Fortuner and registered a case at the Halasuru Traffic Police Station.
Additional details were reported by Deccan Herald, which stated that the incident occurred closer to midnight and described it as a “serial accident.” According to the report, Patel’s SUV was allegedly being driven at high speed before it lost control and crashed into a line of vehicles halted at the signal. One of the complainants, identified as Srinivas, told police that his car was pushed forward by the impact, causing further damage to vehicles ahead.
The Deccan Herald report also noted that the breathalyser test indicated alcohol levels above the permissible limit. During preliminary checks, police reportedly found that the SUV was being driven without valid insurance. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and applicable provisions of the IPC, and the vehicle has been seized.
