According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement to sign Aleksa Damjanovic from Red Star Belgrade. A verbal deal is in place, and it will see the 17-year-old striker leave the 1991 European Cup winners to join the Bundesliga side at the end of the season.
Damjanovic is a product of the Red Star academy, and he has so far represented the Serbian club at senior level seven times in the league, and twice in the cup, where he scored his only goal so far in a 2-0 first-round victory over FK TSC. While playing for their Under-17 side, he scored 39 goals in 47 matches across all competitions. He has represented Serbia at every youth level from Under-15 to Under-19.
Obviously regarded as a talented attacker with a bright future, Damjanovic will cost Leverkusen €5million as the initial fee, potentially rising to €8 million, as they seek to build a core of young players for seasons to come.
